The American Veterans Traveling Tribute presents several ‘Cost of Freedom’ memorials and exhibits with the centerpiece being the Traveling Wall, an 80% scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Across it’s 360-foot length, the wall contains every single name etched on the original. The other memorials and exhibits included in the AVTT event include: The Cost of Freedom Memorial, 911 Memorials, Walk of Hero’s, Vietnam Remembered, Tribute Panel, World War II and the Korean War. Interpretive Hike - Tomahawk Trail (9 a.m. to noon) Difficulty – Easy Interested in participating in a guided hike that is educational in nature? This easy 2.8-mile hike is for you. This trail offers post card views of Mt. McLoughlin and provides your guide an opportunity to talk about forestry practices, vegetation and geologic history of the area. Meet the Forest Service guide at the Tomahawk Trailhead at 9 a.m. The trailhead is approximately 30 minutes west of Klamath Falls off of Hwy 140 on Forest Service Road 190, which is near the junction of Westside Road and Hwy 140. Exhibit at Klamath Art Gallery – The Klamath Art Association and the Klamath Camera Club present Best Works of club members. Photographs include monochromes, abstracts, landscapes, wildlife, birds and portraits. The exhibit will be at the gallery from July 4th through July 25th. The opening reception is July 4th from noon to 4:00 pm. The gallery is located at 120 Riverside Drive and is open Thursdays through Mondays from Noon to 4:00 pm. Admission is free. 6th Annual 4th of July Parade & Fireworks – Sunday, July 4th at 10:00 am. Celebrate our nation's independence in historic downtown Klamath Falls. The parade will travel down Main Street and will end near beautiful Lake Ewauna. Marching bands, classic cars, fire trucks, horses, performers, and floats are part of the fun! The 4th of July Parade will be an exciting fun-filled celebration - bring the whole family and be a part of the "Heart of Our Community." A fireworks show will start at dusk over Lake Ewauna. Interpretive Hike - Ranger Springs (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Difficulty – Moderate Don't miss an opportunity to join a Forest Service employee on a 6-mile round trip hike that starts at an elevation of 5,600 feet and gradually climbs gentle slopes to the Pacific Crest Trail and Ranger Springs. Hikers will get to view the flora and fauna of the area and experience first-hand a bubbling spring. Your guide will talk about wildflowers, wildlife habitat and wilderness management practices. Meet the Forest Service guide at the Sevenmile Marsh Trailhead at 9 a.m. The trailhead is approximately ten miles west of Fort Klamath, Ore. From Fort Klamath, it can be accessed by traveling east on Nicholson Road to Forest Service Road 3334. There is no fee required to park at the trailhead. A series of free beginning genealogy workshops will be presented by the Klamath Basin Genealogy Society at the Klamath County Library downtown. Three Saturday workshops will be offered over the Summer on June 19th, July 17th and August 21st. All three workshops will start at 10:30 a.m. and last one and a half hours. The sessions will be held in the library’s videoconference room and include the use of laptops and a wall screen for display.
